Our Careteam

Cassie Kildow

Registered Veterinary Technician

Cassie grew up on a pig farm in Medford, Wisconsin—she’s been tending to all kinds of animals since she was a little girl. As she got a bit older, she was active in the 4-H and Future Farmers of America organizations throughout grade school. Cassie’s passion for animals simply never quit! A career in the veterinary field was the only choice that made sense.

Cassie attended Globe University in Wisconsin after receiving her Bachelor’s degree in psychology, graduating with her Technician’s degree and passing her national exams to become a Registered Veterinary Technician. She was immediately hired on at the clinic she had completed her externship with, then moved to Fort Wayne after getting married. Cassie was thrilled to join Aboite Animal Clinic’s talented care team in February of 2017.
As a Tech, Cassie especially likes to perform dental cleanings and never tires of seeing the before-and-after pictures. The most rewarding part of her work, though, is interacting directly with her clients and patients—for her, knowing that she’s able to make a lasting difference is a dream come true!
Away from work, Cassie likes reading fantasy novels and baking; she’s even baked for a few baby showers and a gender-reveal party, and her delicious handiwork is often enjoyed by the rest of the team here at the clinic! Cassie and her husband have a young son and share their home with two cats: Pemberely, who has been with Cassie since her college years, and a rescue named Charlie whose favorite pastimes are playing fetch and sleeping.

Kisha Steininger

Groomer

Kisha has been riding horses for 35 years, and always enjoyed grooming them before and after her treks. That’s what inspired her to groom professionally and carry her talents over to dogs and cats! Kisha loves to help the area’s pets look and feel their best as Aboite Animal Clinic’s resident groomer and bather.

A Fort Wayne native, Kisha started her career as a bather at a local grooming salon before attending grooming school at the Michigan School of Canine Cosmetology in Lansing, Michigan in 1998. After a number of years spent grooming on-and-off—and obtaining her degree in criminal justice and crime analysis from the Indiana Institute of Technology—she was thrilled to join the Aboite Animal Clinic family in early 2013; Kisha had been bringing her own pets here to the hospital to see Dr. Gupta since the late 1990s, so it was a natural fit!
When she’s not sprucing up pets here at the clinic, Kisha can usually be found cheering on her favorite local sports teams and going for horseback rides on her Warmblood/Draft cross, Duke. Kisha also shares her home with three dogs—Toby, a Dachshund, and two Chihuahuas who go by Coco and Chill—and two cats, a pair of adopted Tortoiseshell Calicos named Maple and Regina.

MaRissa Smith

Veterinary Technician

MaRissa grew up in the countryside of Bluffton, Indiana, where animal care was a part of life from day one. Ever since she can remember, she’s wanted to provide a voice for those who can’t speak for themselves—for MaRissa, giving pets the medical attention they need while also helping their owners to be properly equipped for great care is the ultimate reward! She helps pets every day as a Veterinary Technician.

MaRissa’s veterinary journey began at another local hospital as a Kennel Assistant, eventually working her way up to reception and Veterinary Assistant work, before starting school at International Business College’s Vet Tech Institute. She graduated in 2012, then began working one day a week at her previous clinic while serving as the manager of the Marion Grant County Humane Society.
MaRissa had completed her externship for school right here at Aboite Animal Clinic, and was happy to accept a job offer in 2013. Medically, she’s fond of surgical work and follow-up care during the post-operative stage. Overall, MaRissa’s favorite aspect of her work here at the hospital is the family-oriented environment that she gets to help cultivate on a daily basis; the relationships she shares with her coworkers and the area’s pet owners are not something she takes for granted!
When she has free time away from work, MaRissa enjoys dabbling in crafts and drawing, honing her photography skills, and spending time at home with her family and pets. She and her husband, Derek, have a young son named Damon and care for several pets. The family has three dogs: Rowdy, a spunky Labrador; Sophie, who MaRissa adopted during her time at the Humane Society; and a Jack Russell Terrier named Georgie who MaRissa rescued while on vacation in Georgia. They also have three cats—Angela, Butters, and Chipper—and a turtle named Dexter.

Megan Estes

Veterinary Assistant

Megan grew up in Muncie, Indiana, where her family kept pets ever since her earliest days. She’s known from the time she was a little girl that she wanted to work in veterinary medicine some day! Megan’s dream has come full circle—she’s a proud member of Aboite Animal Clinic’s Veterinary Assistant team.

Megan was still in high school when she took on an internship at her local family veterinary clinic. Next, she headed off to Purdue University to study animal behavior, working at a clinic in West Lafayette for nearly five years during her studies. Megan moved back to Muncie in 2012, then started working for a clinic in Anderson, Indiana, where she was able to apply and hone many of the skills she had learned back in West Lafayette.
In 2017, Megan moved to Fort Wayne to be with her boyfriend, and started here at Aboite Animal Clinic in February of that year as a Veterinary Assistant. She has a special passion for animal behavior and loves to help clients understand why their animal friends act the way they do; Megan also enjoys helping each and every visitor to the hospital feel comfortable during their entire visit.
Away from the office, Megan enjoys watching documentaries about animals, history, and nature; she loves to continue learning about the earth’s creatures in whatever way she can! Along with her boyfriend and his daughter, Megan shares her home with her dog, Gidget, and four cats: Miss Kitty, who spends most of her time judging everyone else; Foo, who demands cuddles with Megan on a daily basis; Mabel, who doesn’t let her past encounter with a car slow her down in the least; and Emma, the baby of the family.
