Our Veterinarians

Dr. Sunil Gupta
Owner / Veterinarian
Dr. Sunil Gupta was born in Ithaca, New York, but relocated to India with his family when he was only two years old. There, his parents encouraged him to attend veterinary school—Dr. Gupta has been enjoying the world of animal care ever since. He’s now been caring for pet patients for more than 34 years!

Dr. Gupta graduated from veterinary school in 1984, then launched his career in private practice. He worked under other veterinarians at a number of clinics for 15 years before deciding to open his very own practice—that’s when Aboite Animal Clinic was born!

Aside from his passions within veterinary medicine, Dr. Gupta likes practicing his photography skills, playing and watching sports—he represented his university’s table tennis team four times during college, and now enjoys golfing—and spending time with his family at home. Dr. Gupta has two children, a son and a daughter, and also shares his home with three dogs: Linus, a Maltese who gets his name from Dr. Gupta’s first name spelled backward; a rescued Bichon named Oscar; and Lillie the Maltipoo.
Dr. Lauren Kruse
Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Lauren Kruse grew up on a small hobby farm right here in Fort Wayne—spending time around everything from dogs and horses to cows and pigs helped her affinity for animal welfare flourish! Dr. Kruse simply can’t imagine devoting her time to anything else; she’s proud to serve the pets and animal parents of her hometown as an Associate Veterinarian with the Aboite Animal Clinic family.

Dr. Kruse filled in for Dr. Gupta for several years when he was away at conferences or on vacation—she enjoyed her time here at the clinic so much that she was happy to accept a part-time position! Dr. Kruse particularly likes the “sleuthing” aspect of her job, and loves the challenge of putting together the medical puzzle pieces to arrive at a diagnosis. Most of all, she likes witnessing the bonds between pets and owners and getting to hear fun animal stories on a daily basis!

Dr. Kruse has a teenaged son, as well as a grown daughter who lives in Colorado. She lives on a farm of her own, and shares her life with several rescued dogs, multiple horses, a flock of chickens, and a few cows. When Dr. Kruse isn’t tending to her animals at home or helping the pets of Fort Wayne feel better here at the clinic, she likes backpacking, gardening, horseback riding, reading, and spending quality time with her family.
